Scholarships for students: Steese Fire Department helps their staffing by helping students

With tight budgets and dwindling amounts of volunteer help, interior fire departments struggle with maintaining staffing. In 2011 the Steese Volunteer Fire Department came up with an idea to help -- they began providing scholarships and a place to live for students who are going to UAF.


Alaska State Troopers arrested a Fairbanks man on Thursday for alleged sexual assault of an underage male.


The Alaska Supreme Court agreed Friday to allow a group seeking to recall Gov. Mike Dunleavy to begin a second signature-gathering phase while it weighs an appeal in the case.



According to a press release from the Alaska Department of Law, the scammers send a text or email claiming the recipient's account has been suspended. The messages say the recipient must click on a link that will allow them to reactivate their account.
