The Alaska Nanooks hockey team started off the Governor's Cup against the Anchorage Seawolves with a bang with the Nooks winning the first match six to two in Anchorage, then returning home to dismantle their in state rivals with a three to two win.
Down in Anchorage, the Nanooks took a three to one lead in the first period, with Steven Jandric, Jack Weiss, and Justin Woods all knocking in goals.
In the third period, the Nooks scored three more goals, with Ryker Leer, Colton Leiter, and Justin Woods scoring his second goal of the night on a power play.

In their home match, the Nooks erased an early deficit in the first period to tie it on Ross Heidt's unassisted goal.
In the second, Zach Frye gave Alaska the lead, while in the third Colton Leiter put their lead up for good off of Jandric's assist.
