The Yellowjackets play in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and went 10-14-3 this past season.
This year Proffitt has 16 points on eight goals and eight assists while appearing in 53 games and has helped the Ice Dogs to a number one seed in the Midwest Divisional Playoffs.
Proffitt spoke about his next chapter in life.
"It's super exciting and ready to take what I've learned here and over the last couple of years to the next level and be able to produce for them coming into next year."
"I visited over the summer and just the coaching staff and they're really up front and honest in what they saw for me and the place being right on Lake Superior the feel is like being back home here with hunting and fishing so it made me want to go there even more," said Proffitt.
