The girls’ Hutchison Hawks win the Dean Cummings Memorial Tournament

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The 2019 Dean Cummings Memorial Tournament was full of drama and comebacks for an Interior team that won it all.
In the girls' bracket, the Hutchison Hawks took the title behind their resiliency to bounce back in some close games.
They started with a first round match win against the Bethel Regional Warriors with Bri Majors scoring 12 points as the Hawks won 43-39.
Hutch then took their semifinal matchup by beating the Kotzebue Huskies 41-36.
Kianna Kriska led the Hawks with 16 points and outdueled future Alaska Nanook Alanna Conwell who dropped 15.
Then the Hawks took on the Nome-Beltz Nanooks in the final round, and they did not disappoint with comeback effort to win 50-39.
Kianna Kriska scored 19 while Bri Majors chipped in 10.
Hutch had to survive a flamethrower performance from Evelyn Rochon who knocked down 7 three pointers in the finals.
