FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The West Valley Wolfpack once again showed their dominance in the Mid-Alaska Conference, sweeping the Lathrop Malemutes on the volleyball court.
The Wolfpack took the sets 25-16, 25-20 and 25-12.
Their defense was on top of it, as West Valley had a block party against Lathrop.
Sarah Cooper talked about West Valley's defensive efforts against their cross town rivals.
"I was really happy how we played, cause the last time we played them we didn't give our best. So it was good to come out and played them in three. Our defense was amazing today and it was the best defense we've had since the season began and we've put in a lot of hard work and a lot of effort and a lot of hard balls up. And I am really proud of that. There is definitely pressure when the game is like that but like mentality wise that is something we been training on so I was actually like actually happy we pulled through," said Cooper.
The Hutchison Hawks volleyball program took care of business against the Eielson Ravens, earning the impressive sweep on the road.
The Hawks swept the sets 25-10, 25-9 and 25-11, as Allyona Mandregan ran amok with 10 kills, 10 blocks and seven digs.
Jayda Russell was instrumental on the defensive side, getting 17 digs on the night along with two aces.
McKenna Hopper led the Dirty Birds with six kills, as Eielson will look to rebound in the Barrow Invitational this weekend, while Hutch rolls into their matchup against the West Valley Wolfpack on Friday.
