The West Valley Invitational was won by the Wolfpack in the Gold Bracket

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The West Valley Invite concluded over the weekend, as 10 teams aimed to claim the top spot for the volleyball tournament here in Fairbanks.
In pool play, the top team might surprise you.
In first it was the Monroe Catholic Rams who finished at 8-1.
In second, it was the Valdez Buccaneers who were 7-2.
In third we had the West Valley Wolfpack who also were 7-2, but had lost to the Valdez Buccaneers in the pool.
In fourth, we had the Mt. Edgecumbe Braves who ended at 6-3.
And in fifth, it was the Hutchison Hawks who were 5-4.
These 5 teams were in the Gold Bracket.
For the Red Bracket, it was the 6th placed Lathrop Malemutes who were 4-5.
In 7th, that was the Barrow Whalers who were 4-5.
In 8th, it was the North Pole Patriots at 3-6.
In 9th, we had the West Valley JV squad, and in 10th it was the Eielson Ravens.
The Red Bracket ended with the Whalers winning 2-1 against the Patriots in the finals, while the Gold Bracket saw the Wolfpack claim the title over Valdez in a 2-0 sweep.
This was a back-to-back effort for the Wolfpack in this tournament.
The All-Gold Bracket tournament team started with Kami Steel who was also named the MVP for West Valley.
Joining her was Jozy Martellaro and Ellen Silva.
Then for Valdez, it was Carlee Fleming, Sydney Johnson and Kassi Howard.
For Mt. Edgecumbe, there was Amy Bioff and Brody Wysocki.
Then Monroe had Marian Nelson and Chloe Maynard, while Hutch had Alyssa Goforth.
The Red Bracket's MVP was Sarah Milla for Barrow, while Jordan Angeak and Jenilee Donovan joined her on the all-tournament team.
For North Pole, it was Sydney Teel, Ainsley Smith and Kinley Erickson.
For Lathrop, they had Kelli Fitzgerald and Harmony Lappui.
For the West Valley JV, it was Ali May and Claire Olson.
And for Eielson it was Gabriella Baker.
