FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Over the weekend, the Alaska Goldpanners started their 2019 season with a pair of games against the Northwest Honkers.
In Game 1, the Panners rallied in the ninth inning, but fell just short in their 4-3 loss to the Honkers.
Alaska scored three times in the final frame, but it wasn't enough to snag the "W" against Northwest.
They did however win Game 2 7-1.
Griffin McCormick led the Panners with a two run triple, while Jacob Fricke led them from the mound to grab the club's first win of the season.
They now face the Fairbanks Men's League All Stars at 7 P.M. tomorrow at Growden Park.
