The Nanooks are home for a date against their rivals, the Anchorage Seawolves

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks men's basketball program is here at home for a crucial rivalry matchup against their heated rivals in the Anchorage Seawolves.
The last time these two teams faced off here in Fairbanks, the Seawolves escaped with a game winner at the buzzer to deflate the Nanooks' chances at making the GNAC tournament.
The Nanooks come into this game with 0-1 conference record after falling in a tight contest against the Montana State Billings Yellowjackets.
Alaska will be facing an Anchorage squad that also fell to the Yellowjackets, as both teams will look for their first victory in the GNAC in the early going of the conference slate.
The key player in the rivalry battle will come down to the play of the bench, especially from Aushanti Potts-Woods.
Potts-Woods has had a lot of great moments so far this season already, and the 6-2 guard off the bench could have another notch added to his belt with a game against the Seawolves.
Head Coach Greg Sparling spoke about being part of this battle between the North and South of the 49th state.
"It's going to be fun. I've never been a part of it, been a part of the Central Washington one. Which is a huge rivalry, and it sells out and I know there is a lot riding on it, cause it is the talk of the state of Alaska. I go down to this grocery store and I've gone to a couple of restaurants, hey you ready for Anchorage, that's the game of the year. And I was like yeah we're getting ready for it but there's a lot more games behind that. But I am excited to be a part of that and see what this thing's about," said Sparling.
The Nanooks face off against the Seawolves tomorrow at 2 PM, at the Patty Center.
