The Lathrop Malemutes take down North Pole in volleyball action

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Lathrop Malemutes volleyball team earned their revenge against the North Pole Patriots, beating their Mid-Alaska Conference foe 3-1 at home thanks to Kelli Fitzgerald's 44 digs.
The Mutes were able to grab the first set at 25-15.
The Pats grabbed the second set at 25-15.
But Lathrop turned it around to grab the third and fourth sets, winning them 25-16 and 26-24.
The Malemutes got 15 assists from Maya Pelayo, 12 kills from Aubrey Reed and 7 blocks from Harmony Lappui.
The Patriots tried to counter with their duo of Sydney Teel and Ainsley Smith.
Teel had 13 kills and Smith dished out 18 assists.
Lathrop improve to 3-3 and 1-0 in the MAC, preparing for the Monroe Catholic Rams tomorrow night.
While the Patriots drop to 1-3 and Oh-1 in the MAC as they prepare for the Valdez Tournament starting on Friday.
They will be joined by the Eielson Ravens for this trip.
