FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Lathrop Malemutes flag football team took on the Hutchison Hawks looking to keep their lead in the Mid Alaska Conference.
However, they couldn't hold off the furious rally that the Hawks ran in the second half.
Both squads played to an 18-18 tie, but it was Hutch's rally that showed their grit in this late night match.
After the first quarter saw no scoring, Lathrop was able to hit the scoreboard twice.
It started with a 20 yard touchdown pass from Aniya Tuck to Saige Borrego.
Then Leanna Tuck took back a 35 yard pick 6 to give themselves the 12-Oh lead heading into halftime.
But the Hawks were able to fight back, getting 2 touchdown passes from Hunter Taylor and the defense picking off an option pass to tie it all up.
Lathrop is now 3-1-1 and Hutch is now 3-2-1, with Lathrop facing West Valley tomorrow and Hutch will play the Chugiak Mustangs tomorrow as well.
