Fairbanks, Alaska The ASBN polls came out this week, giving us a look at the rankings for the high school football teams here in Alaska, and the Interior rose pretty far this time around.
The Division 2 and 3 polls are out for high school football, and we start with the number one team in the state, which is the Lathrop Malemutes who jumped from fourth.
They dominated the Dimond Lynx this past weekend, grabbing the 53-16 victory.
They play the Soldotna Stars this week.
In second is the West Valley Wolfpack.
The Wolfpack rose from 5th after they took care of business against the Eielson Ravens and now prepare for the Chugiak Mustangs on Friday.
And in third is the Eagle River Wolves.
Eagle River was not ranked last week, and they blew the Barrow Whalers out of the water to rise in the ranks.
Next is the fourth ranked Soldotna Stars.
SoHi returned with a vengeance from losing and not being ranked, dismantling the North Pole Patriots 66 to 19 last week.
SoHi has date with the number one team in the Lathrop Malemutes.
And in fifth is the Palmer Moose.
Palmer was number one last week, and they fell to the Colony Knights dropping them four spots.
In the Division I polls, the top team is still the Bartlett Golden Bears.
The defending champs have an important date against the West Anchorage Eagles.
Speaking of the Eagles, they are the second best team in the state and they might go even further if they can take down the Golden Bears.
In third is my alma mater, the Colony Knights.
The Knights will face off against the Dimond Lynx this week.
In fourth we have the East Anchorage Thunderbirds.
The T-Birds were smacked around by a lower 48 squad, and they look to rebound against the Juneau [Insert Name Here] Football team.
And lastly there is the Service Cougars, who are in the top 5 for the first time this season.
They squeaked by the Chugiak Mustangs in O-T, and now get ready for the Wasilla Warriors this weekend.
