The Ice Dogs take a 2-0 lead over Janesville

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs opened their playoff series against the Janesville Jets with a 2-0 lead behind the top notch goal keeping from Mattias Sholl.
The Ice Dogs took Game 1 through their defense in a 2-0 victory over the Jets.​
In the second period, Fairbanks got their scoring with Ty Proffitt and Luke Mobley hitting against the back of the net.​
Sholl had a perfect night of 26 saves and a shutout over Janesville.​
He spoke about setting the tone in the series., saying "I feel as confident as ever, just feeling a flow right now. And yeah, those last two minutes where you make those saves for your team so yeah we came out with the win."

Game 2 was the same for the Fairbanks team as they beat the Jets 4-1.
Trenton Woods got the scoring going in the first period, and Sholl once again gave a great performance.​
The second period saw John Stampohar give the Ice Dogs back their lead.​
In the final frame, Matt Koethe and Luke Ciolli put the final nails in the coffin to give Fairbanks the demanding 2-0 series lead.

"Basically we had came out hard working and we knew right from the drop of the puck that we had to get going right off the bat," said John Stampohar after the game. "And we knew that if we got that first one, more would keep coming so we just kept putting pressure on him all night."​

Fairbanks take their act on the road for the rest of series against the Jets on Friday.
