FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs are back in the Robertson Cup Final after reverse-sweeping the Johnstown Tomahawks.
The Dogs took down the top seeded Tomahawks by winning 6-3 in Game 3.
Fairbanks started this one off hot, pouring on four goals in the first period while holding Johnstown scoreless.
The Ice Dogs couldn't score in the second period while Johnstown scored three times, but it was too little, too late.
The Dogs scored two unanswered goals in the third period to secure the victory.
Tanner Edwards was the scoring leader in Game 3, accounting for two Ice Dog goals while Matt Koethe, Brenden MacLaren, Jonathan Sorenson, and Noah Wilson all scored as well.
Sorenson and Parker Brown both finished with two assists.
Mattias Sholl stopped 27 out of the 30 shots he faced in his 60 minutes of work between the pipes to help the Ice Dogs advance to the title game.
The Dogs, who are 8-1 in playoff games this season, will be in action again this Tuesday May 14th when they play the Aberdeen Wings.
They will be looking to bring home the fourth Robertson Cup in team history. That game takes place at 4 P.M. Alaska Time.
