FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Goldpanners had their best series of the season, sweeping the Bercovich 35's in six games. However, in the final matchup the Panners needed some bottom of the ninth magic.
Ben McKay got this walk-off inside the park home run to give Alaska the 4-3 victory.
Cole Carder led the offense with 1 run, 2 hits and 2 RBIs, while Isaac Olson got the win on the mound after only giving up 2 hits in his 2 innings of work.
Alaska had to battle back from a 3-0 deficit to the 35's, however it can not be overstated how dominant they were.
They outscored their foes 68-12 over 6 games.
McKay spoke after the game about knocking in the walk-off.
"Great man. We are a resilient team man we always, we usually find a way to win. Oh yeah, thinking forward the whole way. Once that guy dove and missed it, I'm going 4," said McKay.
The Panners now rest up before their final home series here in Fairbanks, as they take on the San Francisco Seals tomorrow night at Growden Park.
