FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Goldpanners and walk-offs go hand in hand like hot dogs on the 4th of July.
As the Panners squad did it once again, getting a game winning double in the bottom of the ninth.
Grant DeLappe hit a walk-off double to bring in Blake Porter for the 6-5 victory over the Coquitlam Angels.
Alaska was down 5-0 in the sixth, but thanks to four runs they were able to close the gap.
The Panners didn't even register a hit until the sixth, and they used that momentum to grab the "W".
DeLappe led the offense with 1 run, 2 hits and 2 RBIs while Zach Johnson only gave up one hit in the final three innings.
Head Coach Miles Kizer spoke the squad getting the walk-off in the Kamloops International Tournament.
"It is fun to watch. In the last week or so, just guys coming off the bench, guys coming into the game out of the pen, it has been a next guy up sitiuation. We haven't quit at any point in time, which has been great to see. I mean we just competing. It was huge to see us continue to compete, continue to play, and continue to want to win," said Kizer.
The Goldpanners now prepare for their next game in the group stage, when they take on the Edmonton Cubs tomorrow morning.
