FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The 2019 race season continued over the weekend with the Gold Discovery Run out near Fox.
The runners took on the 16.8 mile course with clear skies and warm temperatures.
In the women's division, Gina Chythlook took home first with a time of 2 hours, 8 minutes and 36.1 seconds.
In the men's class, Erik Schoen grabbed the gold with a run time of 1 hour, 53 minutes and 55.8 seconds.
Schoen talked about beating the new course.
"Feels great. Yeah it is my second time running it. I got third a couple years ago, and just a gorgeous day for a run, nice and cool, the puddles were not to big this year. The new section of trails are really nice. I ran almost the entire race with my buddy Steve, so it was fun to run with my training buddy, and it felt good," said Schoen.
