The Dirty Birds soar into the State Finals

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Last year I made a statement that Eielson losing to Homer in the playoffs was the end of an era.
The Dirty Birds are back, and they are in full flight, as they boast a top notch running game and one of the best defenses in the state.
Eielson won 55-0 over the Ketchikan Kings in the Division III semifinals, and Jayden Manibusan ran the rock 26 times for 249 yards and garnered five touchdowns.
But their defense also came to play, holding Kayhi to a goose egg, and they harassed the Kings' quarterback Branden Wong all day long.
Zeb Ford continued his strong showing, grabbing two interceptions.
Brock Renson also ran amok, garnering three sacks in the semifinals.
They now play the Barrow Whalers in the state title game in Palmer on October 13.
