FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks pulled off the upset in splitting their home series against the Bowling Green Falcons who were ranked ninth overall in the nation.
The Nooks shocked the hockey world by winning Game 1 4-1.
Troy Van Tetering got the scoring down early with a power play goal in the first while Tyler Cline closed out the second with a goal in the back of the net.
They then closed out the third period with a pair of goals from Steven Jandric and Justin Young.
Game 2 was all Bowling Green in scoring, but it showed that the Nooks can hang with the best of them after a week of growth.
They now prepare for the Alabama Huntsville Chargers on the road.
