The Alaska Nanooks finish the UAA Invitational 2-1

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks finished the UAA Volleyball Invitational with a positive record, sending the program into the D-II West Region Volleyball Showcase with some momentum.
They started with a close lose to the Michigan Tech Huskies, losing in a 5 set thriller.
Lahra Weber led the Nooks with 14 kills, while Cate Whiting chipped in 47 assists on Friday.
They fell in the final set, going down 15-7.
However, in Game 2, the Nooks captured the gold with a 3-1 victory over the Western New Mexico Mustangs, thanks to a healthy dose of blocks.
The Nooks had 8 on the night, while Tatum Upchurch turned in 18 kills, as Whiting got 37 assists.
And in their final game, Alaska swept Barton College hitting their foes with 9 aces.
Both Weber and Upchurch got 11 kills, as Whiting once again was instrumental with 4 aces.
The Nanooks now prepare for their tournament in California this weekend.
