The Alaska Nanooks fall 3-1 to the Central Washington Wildcats

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks volleyball program kick started their 2018 home schedule with a match-up against the Central Washington Wildcats as fans poured in for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest.
The Nooks fell to the Wildcats 3-1, as the 2 teams battled it out in the Patty Center.
The first set saw the Central Washington easily win 25-15, but after that the sets were decided by 3 points or less.
In the second set, the Nooks battled back to win 26-24 to even the series at 1-1.
Then in set 3, the Central Washongton held on to win 25-23, and in the final set the Wildcats won 25-22.
The Nooks may have lost the series, but they saw some positives in their match.
They had 7 aces on the night, and they were in it for the final 3 sets, pushing the Wildcats to the edge.
Tatum Upchurch led the Nanooks with 22 kills on the night, while Cate Whiting had 45 assists.
Makena Overbey also had 26 digs to help on the defensive end.
The Nanooks are now 2-6 and are 0-1 in the GNAC standings as they are looking to rebound in their Saturday night matchup with the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks.
After the match, the Nooks spoke at the press conference.
