FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks are facing the powerhouse Central Washington Wildcats at home for a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball matchup.
The Nooks face off against the Wildcats to open conference play, and the 2-5 Nanooks will look to snap their 4 game losing streak.
They will be facing the 6-1 Wildcats, who are on a four game winning streak.
The Nanooks will have their hands full against Shelby Mauritson, who had 19 kills this past weekend.
And the key player for the Nanooks, it will be Lahra Weber.
Weber has 77 kills so far in 7 matches, with her averaging 11 a night.
Now let's look at the keys of the game.
First, the Nooks need to avoid errors on their attacks.
Alaska has had 153 errors so far this season, which has contributed to their 5 losses.
They are nearly averaging 22 of them a night.
Second, control the middle.
Kim Wong has 22 blocks on the year, and they will need her to help limit the Wildcats from blasting the nets.
And lastly, the Nanooks should keep the defense up.
