FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The North Pole Patriots hockey team continued their dominate ways over the Hutchison Hawks with a seven to one win at the Polar Ice Arena.
The Patriots didn't start off on the right foot after they gave up a first period goal, but soon after that they began to steam roll their opponent.
They capitalized on their bigger players to open up holes, and dominated the second and third periods.
Cody Frarey spearheaded North Pole's offense, as he finished with a hat trick in the third period.
Frarey spoke after the game on his team's big win.
Cody Frarey; North Pole Hockey>>"You know, we started off pretty slow in the first two periods. In between periods, coach told us we got to pick it up, making sloppy plays in the D-zone. So I think we really came together as a team there in the end. You know it's pretty exciting to get those goals, really pretty fun to having the whole crowd behind you cheering. It's a great feeling. She came out, she was ready to play. You know she stepped up big, really proud of her as a goalie out there. She's working hard, she's doing what she's suppose to. Stopping pucks. You know, Colony is a good team, their solid. They got big players, we just got to come out there and work. Nothing else to it. You know, it's great having those fans out there. It really gets you going when you got that whole crowd cheering for you. I really appreciate it."
The game opened with Cole Kadel hitting a power play goal early in the first period.
However, penalties caught up to the Hawks after they were given a five minute penalty and the Patriots were able to tie it up with a Brandon Scott power play goal.
Later in the first period, Jesse Keith hit the go-ahead goal with four-point seven seconds left.
Katy Vinton was in the goal for the Patriots, and the freshman goalie rebounded after the early goal to shutdown the Hawks' attacks.
