Nanooks Split Series with Bemidji Beavers

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks hockey team split their home series against the Bemidji State Beavers this past weekend.
In the first match, the Nooks utilized an overtime goal to win four to three.
It started with Austin Vieth hitting a late first period goal on the assists from Kyle Marino and Zach Frye.
However, the Beavers responded with a Justin Baudry goal.
In the second, Justin Woods scored to give themselves the lead, but Jay Dickman knocked in a power play goal for the Beavers to tie it up.
Then in the third, Kyle Bauman hit another power play goal for the Beavers to give them the three to two lead.
Later in the period, Zach Frye tied it up on the assists of Troy Van Tetering and Ross Heidt.
In overtime, Chad Staley knocked in the goal to give the Nooks the win.
However, in the second match the Nanooks struggles with their penalties which gave the Beavers the three to two win.
In the first, Justin Woods scored to open the match.
In the second, Justin Baudry tied it up for the Beavers.
The Nanooks thought they had the momentum after Ryker Leer put in a late second period goal.
However, the Nooks shot themselves in the foot after giving up a power play goal late in the period.
Charlie Combs knocked it in after Kyle Marino was called for boarding.
Then in the third, the Beavers used a Gerry Fitzgerald power play goal to seal the victory.
They gave up four power play goals during the series.
The Nooks drop to 3-5-2, with a series this weekend at Ferris State University.
