FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The NAHL announced their players of the month with one Fairbanks player getting the nod for the top goalie.
Mattias Sholl dominated the ice going a perfect 9-0 during the month of March.
Sholl got 222 saves and only allowed 11 goals in between the pipes.
The 18-year old from California posted a save percentage of .953 along with three shutouts.
Sholl has helped propel the Ice Dogs to first in the Midwest Division and secure the number one seed in the playoffs.
He spoke about receiving the recognition from the league.
"I was extremely excited anytime you can receive an award that shows how well you've played and it's an honor. It's also a reflection of how the team has played in front of me as well. It's an honor for the team as well."
"I think the more I've been playing consistently and more game time and become more confidently and not worrying about not playing and worry about making that next save. I think on any team that the goal tending is always the most important position, you got to build out from the back up and without good goal tending the team is not going to be successful and vice versa and a good combo with that this month and we're going to keep it rolling in the playoffs," said Sholl.
