Monroe football will host Valdez due to the fires in the Southeast

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Monroe Catholic Rams saw their schedule rearrange once again, as the fires down in Southeast Alaska continue to limit travel out of the area. Instead of facing the Homer Mariners, the Rams will have a non-conference match-up against the Valdez Buccaneers.

Monroe had a scrimmage last week against the West Valley Wolfpack JV program after their game against the Nikiski Bulldogs was cancelled. Monroe is 1-0 on the season after they pulled off the 10-man football miracle in Week 1, and they are looking to continue momentum into Week 3.

"It's going to be fun, not going to have the risk of a conference game so we know to have some fun with it." said Monroe;s Harley Morris. "I'm very confident. We've had really good games against them every time. So I'm hoping it's the same."

This game is at 6 P.M. on Friday at the Big Dipper Field.
