FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Monroe Catholic Rams hosted the Hutchison Hawks last night for some Aurora Conference volleyball action.

Monroe was able to win 3-1 over the Hawks thanks to their defense. The Rams got 11 blocks from Sophia Stepovich, Chloe Maynard and Tia Campanelli as the blue and gold found the advantage at the net. Maynard scored 22 kills, while Maddie Muramoto chipped in a double-double of 14 kills and 16 digs. All four sets went down to the wire, but Monroe was able to pull away in the final two sets. Bri Majors led the Hawks with 36 digs on the night.

"Pretty good, I feel like this was our next biggest challenge for regionals." said Muramoto after her team's win. "We can't take Delta for granted but it's a big relief knowing that we have one more step towards our goal of winning regionals and going to state."

North Pole 3-1 Eielson:

In North Pole, the Patriots swept the Eielson Ravens.

The Patriots got 25 assists and 5 kills from Ainsley Smith, while the middle blockers combined to help pace the offense. North Pole continued their rise in the volleyball landscape with another dominant performance.
