FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Monroe Catholic Rams volleyball program had their senior night game yesterday, taking on the Delta Junction Huskies in an Aurora Conference match-up.
The Rams won 3-1, as they said good-bye to Jenna Hernandez, Lilloette DeMeritt, Maddie Muramoto and Chloe Maynard. Hernandez had 17 digs, Muramoto had 12 kills and Maynard finished with 18 of her own to close out the night.
"You know it's great, but it's kind of bad figuring out losing all this experience you're going to lose but it gives an opportunity for the other girls to find their path in the program." said Monroe Head Coach Dave Obermeyer.
Monroe's Tia Campanelli set the tone with 32 assists for the Blue and Gold.
However, the Huskies didn't go quietly into the night. Delta closed out the third to force a fourth set.
"It was great, everything is finally clicking and coming together and it is the right time for us to do that," said Delta Head Coach Danielle Schmidt. "It makes me so happy that they're finally seeing how good can they be when they play as a team when they play together."
This weekend, the Rams go down to Anchorage for the Service/Dimond Tournament alongside the West Valley Wolfpack, the North Pole Patriots and the Lathrop Malemutes.
