MAC and Aurora Conference Volleyball Champions Crowned

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The West Valley Wolfpack volleyball program is back to the state tournament after claiming their 10th straight conference tournament title in a four set match against the North Pole Patriots.
The Mid-Alaska Conference champs won 3-1, taking the sets 25-19, 25-11 and 25-17 dominating the younger Patriots with a blend of top notch serves and stifling defense.
Erin Pomeroy and Zoe Vehmeier were on top of it offensively dishing a combined assist total of 34 assists.
Ainsley Smith helped the Patriots take a set off the Wolfpack, getting 17 assists, 5 kills and 3 aces.
Sydney Teel also contributed with 11 kills, while the Patriots struggled against the Wolfpack's block defense.
Ellen Silva had 8 blocks, and West Valley now prepare for their first round matchup on Thursday for the state tournament, when they face the Soldotna Stars in Anchorage.
The Monroe Catholic Rams are off to the state championships for the 3A bracket after taking the Hutchison Hawks out of the Aurora Conference tournament.
The Rams claimed their spot after taking down Hutch 3-1, and did so by taking the final three sets in the consolation bracket final.
The Rams won the sets 27-25, 26-24 and 25-18, as Chloe Maynard went off, getting 25 kills and 13 blocks to dismantle the Hawks.
Hutch missed out barely, as they were on top of it with Allyonna Mandregan getting a triple-double with 26 digs, 13 kills and 10 blocks, while Bri Majors erupted for 40 digs, and Emily Wayfield handed out 35 assists.
Monroe is the second seed out of the Aurora, and they now prepare for their first round matchup against the Nome-Beltz Nanooks on Thursday.
