Lathrop sweeps North Pole on the soccer field

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Lathrop Malemutes soccer programs had a pair of matchups against the North Pole Patriots.
Starting with the girls' game, the Malemutes used a patient offense to secure a 2-nil victory.​
Lathrop were in a defensive battle against the Patriots, who held a staunch stance on their side of the field.​
The Malemutes got on the board first thanks to Chloe Anderson.​
Tay Lee then put the final nail in the coffin to give Lathrop the "W".​
The Malemutes now prepare for their contest against the Hutchison Hawks next week while North Pole head down South to face the Homer Mariners.
The boys' squad came out firing against their Interior rivals, scoring a 9-2 victory.
Lathrop scored their first six goals in the final 20 minutes of the first half to put the game out of reach.​
Carter Mahler led the purple and gold with a hat trick while Graham Wappett scored twice.​
Lathrop also got goals from Jamison Gallion, Connor Musick, Michael Richardson and Zane Lucksavage.​
The Patriots got goals from Daniel Crutcher and Skyler Denny but they couldn't withstand the offensive onslaught from the Malemutes.​
The Pats now head down to face Homer tomorrow while Lathrop get ready for Hutch next week.
