Jax Murray had the hot hand against Kenai River for the Ice Dogs

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Ice Dogs took on the Kenai River Brown Bears for an interstate matchup between the two Midwest Divisional foes down in Soldotna.
But the one name you can't forget is Jax Murray, who had three straight game winners.
Starting Game 1, the Ice Dogs found themselves in a defensive battle as both teams combined for 71 shots and only 3 goals.
Fairbanks won 2-1, as Luke Mobley scored late in the first for his fifth goal of the season, but the Brown Bears tied it up in the second on a power play.
As both teams battled to no scoring in the third period, we headed to overtime.
That's when the man, the myth and the legend Jax Murray scored the game winner 4 minutes into the extra period on a power play.
He scored off of passes from Dylan Abbott and John Stampohar.
Mattias Sholl got the victory with 36 saves.
Then in Game 2 the score was more lively as both teams combined for 7 goals and played once again in O-T.
This match saw the Brown Bears go up 3-0 in the first period.
That's when the Ice Dogs made their charge, scoring twice in the second thanks to goals from Jonathan Sorenson and Ty Proffitt.
Jack Johnston then tied it up in the third, sending this game to overtime.
And 4 minutes into the extra period, Jax Murray scored his second straight game winning goal.
Ethan Lahmon came in relief for Sholl in the first, and went onto to get 21 saves and didn't allow Kenai to find the back of the net.
And lastly, we had Game 3, and Mattias Sholl and Jax Murray played hero for Fairbanks.
Kenai had 36 shots, and not once could they get past Sholl, who put the Brown Bears away with a masterful performance.
Murray scored the game winner in the second thanks to passes from John Stampohar and Dylan Abbott on a power play.
Fairbanks improves to 12-8-3 with 27 points and sit at third in the Midwest Division.
The Brown Bears drop to 9-11-3, as both teams will battle another three game series, this time up here at the Big Dipper Ice Arena starting on Thursday.
Jax Murray was named the Midwest Division Star of the Week, as the forward from Minneapolis, Minnesota scored four points over the weekend with his three game winning goals against Kenai River.
But, with the Ice Dogs returning to home this week, they will also be debuting some new threads at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.
These new holiday sweaters bleed red, green and white.
The Ice Dogs will be wearing these against the Brown Bears starting on Thursday.
