FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The University of Alaska Fairbanks Athletic Department is still without an Athletic Director after months of searching, and it seems that way for a bit longer as one of the favorites Mike Waddell to take the position has found employment elsewhere.
Waddell has taken an opportunity to be the president and general manager for a new professional sports franchise in Orlando, Florida.
UAF are now down to only 3 candidates with Waddell heading off.
Sources from the University claim that they are close to making an offer to another candidate, but are awaiting approval from the UA system President James Johnson.
This search has been going on for 198 days, which is when Gary Gray left on January 21.
