FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Ice Dogs played in town, splitting their series with the Minnesota Magicians.

Game 1 saw the home team score first, with Luke Ciolli. Minnesota on the other hand tied it up, then won in a 12-round shootout to win 2-1. Mattias Sholl finished his night with 31 saves.

In Game 2 however, the Ice Dogs bounced back with their offense. Ethan Benz took off with two goals, helping Fairbanks win 4-1. Matt Koethe and Andrew Garby also scored, while the defense limited the Magicians to only 21 shots on the night.

"Guys were pretty structured in what we were doing and we were able to capitalize on some mistakes," said Head Coach Trevor Stewart. "That's huge, we need that right now. We need a lot of our newcomers being able to chip in. A lot of it's been by our veterans right now. For him to get his first two goals tonight was huge for us as a hockey club."

"Obviously it was a good feeling with my first two under my belt. Also great passes by my teammates and happy to get on the board." said Ice Dogs' Ethan Benz.

The Ice Dogs now prepare for a home series against the Janesville Jets for some Midwest Divisional action starting on Friday.
