Hutch VB sweeps West Valley

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Hutchison Hawks volleyball program received another great defensive effort from their team in a 3-0 sweep over the West Valley Wolfpack.

“It's really crazy,” said Hutch’s Jayda Russell. “We did sweep West Valley last year but it took as a really long time and this year was a great accomplishment to sweep them in three sets. Everyone's really happy and excited to finally just beat them."

Hutch was led by Jayda Russell and her 8 kills and 3 blocks, while Bri Majors had 19 digs. The Hawks' defense patrolled the nets to keep West Valley's offense down. Pam Noll led the red and gold with 8 kills. Hutch’s roster is not large, but they’re getting contributions from everyone.

"It's really cool to see the JV girls step up,” said Russell. “Especially since we are a small team we know we need to work as hard as possible to get points and score. It's really good for the JV girls to come up and be as good as they are to the team. It really helps.”

The Hawks take their momentum into a road match-up next week against Lathrop, while the Wolfpack travel down to the Mat-Su Valley to take on Palmer.
