Greg Sparling is Nanook's Men's Basketball Head Coach

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Breaking news, as the Alaska Nanooks men's basketball program have found their man to take over the head coaching position.
The Nooks have signed former Central Washington Wildcats' head coach Greg Sparling to lead the program.
The Nanooks have been without a coach since Mick Durham resigned in March, and Sparling will officially begin work on July 16th.
Sparling did not have his contract renewed by Central Washington after serving as the head coach for 24 years, thus becoming a free agent with a lengthy resume.
Sparling went 386 and 253 during his tenure with the Wildcats, while garnering 172 wins in the GNAC.
In his visit to UAF, Sparling credited the community for welcoming him on his recruiting trip.
Now he gets to thank everyone in person, when the Nooks start their season in the fall.
Sparling has been someone that Vice Chancellor Keith Champagne has been looking at for the position for some time.
Dating back to their years in Central Washington in the early 90's, Champagne hired Sparling.
Now all these years later, Sparling will be looking to lead the Nannoks to the top of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
