Goldpanners Extend Series Lead of San Francisco

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Goldpanners have had a knack for dramatic flair in their series against the San Francisco Seals, rallying to defeat their foes when the odds are stacked against them.
Last night was no exception.
The Panners were down 6-1 in the bottom of the 5th inning, but thanks to a timely 5 run surge, Alaska was able to grab a 7-6 lead.
They held on to to win 9-7 over the Seals to improve to 5-1 in the series.
Mitch Allen had himself a big night at the plate, going 3 for 3 with 4 RBIs.
This included Allen's first home run of the season and he made that a grand slam.
Lucas Sweany got the "W" on the mound, while Nyles Nygaard came in for the save with 3 strikeouts in the bottom of the 9th.
In total, the Goldpanners' pitchers K'd 8 batters.
Alaska finished with 14 hits on the night.
Tonight is their last home game of the season, and then their off to Matsu Valley to face the Chinooks and the Miners this weekend.
