FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Once thought that he was going to just focus on school and summer league soccer teams, former Lathrop Malemutes Reed Thomas is following his dreams in a different way.
Thomas has signed on to play for the newly announced Alaska City Football Club out of the Matsu Valley, joining Alaska's first semi-professional soccer team.
The league they play in is called the United Premier Soccer League
Thomas was part of something special with the Lathrop Malemutes, being the defensive anchor on a squad that made the Alaska state tournament for the first time in 14 years.
But that's not where the story ends, as they knocked off the defending state champs, beating the South Anchorage Wolverines in dramatic fashion.
Thomas was a master in goal, and helped Lathrop capture a memory that will last for them to the end of times.
