FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Goldpanners took a lead in the seven game series against the San Diego Waves thanks to another walk-off hit.
This time it was a grand slam from Blake Porter.
The Panners are up 3-2 in the series as Porter hit the home run out of the park, leading Alaska to a 7-4 victory in Game 5.
Porter led their offense with 2 runs, 2 hits and 4 RBIs, while Gavin Sonnier got the "W" from the mound with 6 strikeouts and only 2 earned runs.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Panners got five runs to win over the Waves, as they were coming off a 12-5 loss in Game 4.
Porter spoke after the game about hitting the grand slam and getting the win.
"Well we were trailing the whole game man, I was just trying to see the ball and hit it. I wasn't trying to do too much. I've been struggling, just trying to see the ball better and drive it the other way. Pull happy is one of my bad baits so, I just try to stay the other way and drive the ball . I got the job done and we got the win," said Porter.
Tonight is Game 6 between these two programs as the Panners look to secure a series victory at Growden Park.
