Birch Hill Trail Run 5K, 10K Raises $1,700 For FXC

The inaugural Birch Hill Trail Run saw 103 people finish Saturday's race, which featured 5 and 10-kilometer contests.

The event also served as a fundraiser for FXC, which is the Junior Racing and Training program for the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks.

The Men's 5K was won by Justin Hannah, who took the top overall time in the 5K races with a 19-minute, 47-second effort.

The Women's 5K was won by Hilary Saucy with a 23-minute, 33-second time.
On the women's side of the 10K, Jennifer Ivers won it with a 53-minute, and 23-second time.

Meanwhile Drew Harrington, who is usually coordinating the timing of Cross Country meets and Nordic Ski Races at Birch Hill, posted the first overall time in the 10K with a 40-minute, 58-second time.

The rare occasion for early summer running was a big success for FXC as they were able to raise over $1,700 dollars for their organization.
