BEYOND THE SCOREBOARD: Eielson Ravens return to state title game as they reflect on the season

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Eielson Ravens, the Division III team from the Interior, is returning to the state championship game looking to reclaim the trophy.
And this week's Beyond the Scoreboard, we hear from Head Coach David DeVaugn and some of the seniors on the Dirty Birds taking flight once again.
The Eielson Ravens return to the state title game after missing out last season, as the Dirty Birds showed consistent excellence throughout the season.
And that culminated in the 55 point victory they had over KayHi in the semifinals.
But for Head Coach David Devaughn, it's this last game with his current seniors that will be special.
"It's always good to get one more you know, and you know in the weight room one more rep. And on the football field you want one more tackle, one more catch. To have one more game, and to be one of the final two playing is what it's all about. So to see these guys come together, and their hard work come to fruition that's what it is all about. You know, making sure those guys all season, I told them that take care of the little things and the big things will follow. They've taken that to heart, and these guys are about one step away from finishing their goals," said Devaughn
For some of those seniors, they were excited about the opportunity to return to the grand stage of the state finals, and look to capture the DIII crown.
"Not really sure yet, I am still processing it. It's an amazing feeling to come here on our last game on this field and being able to go to state, and winning this game going state," said Ryan Armour, #1 Eielson Ravens.
"Unbelievable, that's the only words that can describe it as unbelievable. Again I can't, I honestly didn't know, but here we are. We're back," said Scott Fry, #63 Eielson Ravens.
The Ravens take on the Barrow Whalers for battle between two Aurora Conference foes.
They play this weekend, representing Eielson and the Interior, with the title on the line.
