Alaska VB falls in 5 sets to Central Washington

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Alaska Nanooks volleyball program's favorite number must be five as they played in another five set thriller, this time against the Central Washington Wildcats.

The Nooks played in their eighth conference 5-setter this season, but this time fell to the Wildcats. Alaska was led by Kim Wong getting 21 kills, while Cate Whiting chipped in 49 assists. Makena Overbey had 26 digs on the night as the Nanooks lost 15-12 in the final set.

The Nanooks will look to bounce back tomorrow with a match-up against the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks. Alaska's record sits at 7-6 in the GNAC, while Northwest is at 6-7. The last time these two teams faced each other the Nooks fell in five sets on October 5.

Also, Alaska's volleyball program saw some of their players were named to the GNAC All-Academic team. Those players are Mica Chen, Zoey Keene, Emily Moorhead, Makena Overbey, Taylor Overn, Lahra Weber and Cate Whiting.

The Nooks play tomorrow at 11 A.M. Alaska time in Nampa, Idaho.
