FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Legion baseball regular season has come to a close, and the tournament teams were preparing for the playoffs.
However, two teams were eliminated from the field before they could even play.
Both Wasilla and Ketchikan have been ruled disqualified from the American Legion baseball tournament due to not purchasing the required insurance by May 31.
The state officials tried to appeal to the national office, but were denied.
Due to these teams dropping out, Kodiak will be jumping in despite being the 10th team in the state.
The winner of the Alaska state tournament will represent the state in the Northwest Regional in Missoula, Montana.
The runner-up will head to Idaho for the Northwest Class A Regional tournament.
