FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks hockey program through the Face-Off Club received a generous donation of $10,000.
The Fairbanks Hockey Classic presented the donation after the result of their second annual three-on-three tournament earlier this month.
More than 200 hockey players participated in this fundraiser with all of the proceeds going to the Nanooks.
Head Coach Erik Largen was on site to accept the funds alonside Athletic Director Sterling Seward.
Largen spoke about the money coming into the program.
"It was an awesome amount, a lot of hard work and the volunteers and it's nice to see and it will definitely help out our program. It was a lot of fun Friday since we had all of the adults out there playing three-on-three and everyone had a really good time and it just rolled over to Saturday with the youth teams and you know our players were out there officiating the tournament and helping out with it. Just nice to see such an event in the community and everyone going out there and support it and I'm looking forward to it next year," said Largen.
