UAF volleyball bounces back against NNU

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) After a dejecting five set loss to Central Washington University on Thursday, the UAF Volleyball program answered back in a big way. In Nampa, Idaho on Saturday, the Nanooks swept Northwest Nazarene (25-19, 25-14, 25-20) on their home court, improving to 8-6 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

It was the Nanooks' core that propelled them to victory, as Lahra Weber (12), AveRee Reynolds (11) and Kim Wong (10) all reached double digit kills.

Junior setter Cate Whiting generated her eighth 40 assist performance this year, and has reached that mark in three consecutive matches.

A 0.363 to 0.195 hit percentage advantage for the Nanooks played a large roll it their victory.

A timely win for the Nanooks, who return to the Patty Center next week. They face Concordia University on Thursday at 7 p.m., before hosting Western Oregon University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
