25th Beat Beethoven saw a three-peat

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The 25th annual Beat Beethoven came down to the wire and one runner secured a three-peat.
Alex Bergholtz completed the triple crown took the 5K with a time of 18 minutes and 37 seconds, getting the gold by 12 seconds over Melanie Nussbaumer.​
The bronze went to Christi Schmitz.​
The top three all come from the Golden Heart City.​
In the men's division, the top three all came from Fairbanks as well.​
Dan Serventi and Jack Matherly took home the gold with a time of 15 minutes and 53 seconds.​
Tobias Albrigtsen took the bronze.​
Bergholtz spoke about the conditions.

"It was actually hard packed," spoke Alex Bergholtz; "there's like a big mud puddle around the back stretch it was great to go through you can see it on the back of our legs. But it was actually pretty nice, it wasn't slippery at all. It was cool, I had a biker right in front of me with a speaker so I could hear the music the entire time and it kept me going."
