Young Co-Sponsors Two Marijuana Legalization Bills

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Alaska's Congressman Don Young and Representative Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii are co-sponsoring two marijuana legalization bills. The first would remove marijuana from the federal list of controlled substances and allow states to regulate the drug as they see fit. The second bill would study the effect of legalized marijuana on state revenues, public health, and opioid abuse.

"I got involved in this when the state of Alaska voted overwhelmingly to legalize marijuana totally, but as I talked to the people who are dealing with this, and working with this, and manufacturing it as businessmen, the biggest challenge they've had is not being able to bank, this bill takes care of it," said Young.
