Young Breaks Record for Longest-Serving Republican Congressman

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Congressman Don Young is now the longest serving Republican member of congress in history.

Wednesday marks 46 years since Young was sworn in to office.

Young surpassed the former record holder Representative Joseph Cannon of Illinois.

The longest-serving congressmen ever is Democratic Representative, John Dingell, who represented Michigan for 59 years and died earlier this year.
