FAIRBANKS, Alaska A woman was arrested at Fairbanks International Airport after she crashed her car into an airport security fence.

Charging documents say Misty Marvel Cartes was driving under the influence when she struck gate 17 of the security fence.

Police reviewed security footage from the Airport Communications Center, and could see the vehicle hit the fence, followed by a female driver exiting the car.

Inside the vehicle, they found mail addressed to Cartes, and began searching for her. They called Fairbanks Memorial Hospital to see if anyone with head injuries had come to the emergency department.

They eventually located Cartes in a cab of a D-O-T dump truck.

Cartes was given a breathalyzer and blew a 0.131, well over the legal limit.

Cartes was charged with a DUI, criminal mischief in the 5th degree, driving with a revoked license, and violating conditions of release and taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center.
