University of Alaska Chancellor gives speech at Chamber of Commerce luncheon

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) University of Alaska Fairbanks Chancellor, Dan White, gave a State of the University speech at today's Greater Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

Dan White during his speech celebrated different accomplishments that were noteworthy for the University of Alaska including the MOSAiC expeditions and the implementation of the Ecampus.

Additionally he also discussed government funding patterns and summarized the recent decisions made by the Board of Regents. Decisions such as suspending single accreditation, suspending academic program reviews and responding to the accrediting concerns. White outlined goals for UA's future including implementing the remaining budget reductions, site visits for accreditation and strengthen global leadership.

"Our second strategic goal is to solidify our global leadership and our Alaskan Native Indigenous studies. To modernize our student experience, revitalize some of the academic programs, transform our innovation enterprise so we can have a larger impact on the Fairbanks economy. Grow our culture of respect, diversity, inclusion and caring. Those are the things we're working through and keeping on the top of our minds as we work through next year's budget," said Dan White.

Jim Johnsen, The UA president will be holding a talk Tuesday November 19th at the Chamber Luncheon entitled: 'University of Alaska: Moving Forward’.
