FAIRBANKS, Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy announced his additional boards and commissions appointments on May 30. On the list of new appointees, Cachet Garrett will be a student representative on the University of Alaska Board of Regents for Fairbanks.

The UA Board of Regents is an 11 member panel in which one student is appointed to represent the board.

Garrett is a lifelong Alaskan who is in the Master's Program at UAF for Communications.

"I am personally amazed at my interaction with the Regent so far, they are very student centered," Garrett said. "This perspective that we are in a negative time, I would like to express to people, especially the students of Alaska, that every challenge has a built-in solution. It comes prepackaged. We have to find it, source it, dig it out, and then build it."

The UA Board of Regents is an 11 member panel in which one student is appointed to represent the board.

The board's role is to discuss and implement University of Alaska budget and policies. They held their first meeting involving Garrett June 6.
