FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Fairbanks Police responded to the scene of an accident on 5th and Barnette Street, just before 1:30 Friday afternoon. Two vehicles collided in the one way intersection, after one driver ran a red light.

One of the individuals involved in the accident was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, but police say those injuries are not life threatening, and no one died in this accident.

Sgt. Peyton Merideth, with the Fairbanks Police Department, said, "An investigation on scene revealed one of the drivers in the accident ran a red light and it caused a pretty major collision here in the intersection and roll over. Everybody is okay. One person was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, but I think she'll be fine."

Sergeant Peyton Merideth says the initial investigation shows that alcohol and drugs do not appear to have contributed to this accident, and there was no sign of texting and driving.
